Strengthening Marriages, Families and Communities PDF Print E-mail

Dr. M. Jeanne Dolphus Cotton is the National Facilitator for Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) for Strengthening Marriages and Families, a component of the National Alliance of Faith & Justice.

The National Alliance of Faith & Justice promotes a culturally competent strategy for fostering healthy marriages and responsible fatherhood, improving child well-being and strengthening families within the African American Community for nationwide replication and demonstration.

Cultural orientation, traditions and practices form a diversity of beliefs, attitudes, interpersonal styles and behaviors. The program develops strategies and activities to rejuvenate the family by fostering healthy marriages; promoting responsible motherhood and fatherhood; and position children and family as the center of our culture.

Curriculum
The central focus of the curriculum and related materials is the building and rebuilding of the foundation upon which the family and community is built … the individual.

Six major areas of focus are broken down into the following: The Individual “You,” the Relationship, Marriages, Family Dynamics, Parenting, Manhood/Fatherhood.

Materials
Materials are presented on DVDs and workbooks. The approach is that of team facilitation. The trained facilitator is instructed through the facilitator guidebook how to aid in the presentation of the DVD.
